Biography
I am the daughter of a diplomat, raised all over the world. As a result I speak five languages fluently. I returned to the USA for college (VaTech) and got early acceptance at MCV for dental school. Although I considered a future in Oral Surgery, and even did an Externship at Michael Reese, I felt I might enjoy the challenge of a GP practice for the variety it offers. I applied to, and was accepted at University of Virginia Hospitals for the breadth of training it offered- a two year GPR with strong emphasis on cancer rehabilitation, diagnosis, oral surgery (to include IV sedation), pediatrics, medical management of patients, and implantology. I was the first resident to place and restore implants in that program (Core Vent baskets, as I recall!). I served as Chief Resident there. After I completed my residency in 1993, I moved to Northern Virginia and started a practice, and was there until 2002 when I moved to Illinois to be with my husband who got tenured at Augustana College. Our daughter was born with serious medical issues so I did not purchase another practice until 2005, working temporarily as her health would permit. I purchased an older practice in 2005, and have spent the last 6 years educating patientsl building a clientele. My friend, and endodontist was killed in an accident, and I purchased her equipment in 2006 which included a microscope. I didn't use it until I went to a course with Cliff Ruddle/ John West in Scottsdale. Since then I have introduced it to my practice, and it has opened my eyes in immeasurable ways. My goal is to educate myself on it so others can follow suit, and to return the gift I have been given by offering my services to train others. I have just opened my last practice, today, in Moline, IL, and intend to have ALL my staff using microscopes for every aspect of patient care!
