Biography

David Figdor received his BDSc degree from the University of Melbourne in 1980, completed a Masters Degree in Endodontics in 1984 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1985. In 1986, David became the first Diplomate in Endodontics of the RACDS. Collaborative studies conducted over more than a decade with the Department of Endodontics at University of Umeå, Sweden led to completion of a PhD in 2002. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of Dentistry International and, by examination, Fellow of the Australian Society for Microbiology.
David Figdor has been in private practice limited to endodontics since 1984. Since that time, he has been involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the University of Melbourne and is a visiting scientist at Monash University. He has lectured throughout Australia and internationally on both clinical and research topics and has been actively involved in Australian endodontics at all levels. He is a referee for numerous journals and is on the Editorial Board of 2 international endodontic journals. His primary research interest is endodontic microbiology and he has authored or co-authored more than two dozen works, many of which are high-citation papers in the endodontic literature, and a book chapter.
